We did a project called the edible cell in Mr. Kirste's classroom. We were supposed to build a cell with edible items. As you can see to the photo, the entire edible cell is made out of candy. Our edible cell was made of candy and lots and lots of frosting. This activity taught us a few different things. A few things we learned were the organs that made up the cell, and the functions of these organs and how they helped the cell survive.
This cell looks like something you would make in a cooking class combined with a life science class. For this project I needed: a good understanding of the cell organs, lots and lots of frosting, and candy that is similar to the candy you see in this photo.

Punnett Square
For Mr. Kirste's class, we each were assigned a gene for which we were supposed to make a Punnett Square and take a photo of that gene. I was assigned earlobe shape, and eye color. We had the option to choose either of the two we were assigned. I chose earlobe. On the right is my earlobe shape. There are only two possibilities for my earlobe shape. Free earlobe, and attached earlobe. Of the two possibilities, I have a free earlobe. My mom, mom's mom, and my mom's dad all have free earlobes. Therefore, my mom is FF. My dad, dad's mom, and my dad's dad all have free earlobes. Therefore, my dad is also FF.
To post this assignment on my digital portfolio, I had to first create this in Google Drawing. Then, I had to take a photo of it using snipping tools.
