Earlier I was eating my lunch in Mr. Aberle's room and from their I decided to go to the quad and play whatever game that they were going to host. Today it was The Hunger Games, Computech Edition. Right before I was about to play the game, Timothy came into the quad and told me Robbie is waiting to play the Chess Match from last week. I had felt so stupid since Robbie probably was waiting for the last 20 minutes and I was eating lunch and watching "The Hunger Games". We were only able to play for about 8 minutes, and then we had to start packing up to go to our next class which in my case is Computers and same with Robbie.

For Science Bowl, Mrs. Poole said that we can start coming in next week and practicing for next year's event. Thing that sucks is that I have Robotics before school, after school, and possibly at lunch so I will not be able to practice for an entire week. I still think that my team should have won and the first have lost. Jacob Sutton said that your allowed a 2 second pause when you buzz in while Nester on his team had about a 5-6 second pause. I was so mad and after the match I asked him if he thought that it was a stall and he said yes. Even though he knew stalled, he said that you are allowed a 2 second pause. I was so mad at him for cheating and his excuse was you would have done the same thing.

Interesting thing is, as I leave one club, I join another club. In my case, I joined Chess Club first. Then there was Science Bowl, and I was interested in Science Bowl so I joined. I did Science Bowl for around 2 months and now I am finally going back to Chess Club, and I have Robotics afterschool with Mr.West. It seems like I have my plateful and I am very busy. That is true. For Chess Club we had a tournament which was my first tournament a while back. I had a lot of fun there, but the thing is I didn't place. I was a bit upset, but I asked one of my other friends on the Chess Club team who didn't place how many tournaments has he been to. He answered about 20 which I found funny. I almost placed in my first tournament, and my friend didn't place at all after 20 tournaments.

In Robotics, there are three of us in a group; Corbin, Prabhmeet, and me. The three of us usually argue and fight alot, and it is surprising the amount of work we still get done. Now, we are almost done with our line follower which me and Corbin are working. Prabhmeet has been working on the Battle Bot, and it seems like he has made no progress. All he does is screw around with the controls. I mean really! Is that all you do during Robotics. All he did yesterday was add a layer of two pieces to the Battle Bot in 40 minutes. That is just wasting time. He really hasn't been doing anything for the past few days. I don't know if he is practicing the controls so he could be the Battle Bot controller even though our group has chosen me, but I am very confused.

First of all I hope Mrs.Poole never reads this post because the things I may say may offend someone. On Saturday, we won our first round robin. Round robins are practice rounds that determine who you will be facing off. We won the first round robin, and when we played the second round robin; the opposing team was already asked the question in the previous round robin which gave them the advantage. So they won the round robin. Later on when we had to play Edison Computech Team 1, the team I should have been, they won. The only reason they won the match is because the rules judge was texting on her phone when the other team buzzed in.

When you buzz in, you have two seconds to answer after the moderator has determined who has buzzed in. I might as well say who buzzed in, it was Nester. Nester buzzed in before any of the question was read. He waited about 4-5 seconds before answering. When the moderator asked the rules judge if it was a stall, the rules judge quickly stopped texting on her phone and put it in her pocket and answered saying that it was not a stall. After this had happened, we barely won the next 2 rounds. The loss had broken our self esteem, and we finally lost. Also, when we were playing EC team 1, Mrs.Poole was not aloud to talk at all. She broke that rule and said to us don't argue with the judge. In my opinion, she wanted Team 1 to win, and they did win. I asked her the next school day if she thought Nester stalled. She all of a sudden paused, and finally answered me and said no. This confirmed what I had thought was to happen.

Nobody showed up today for Science Bowl practice. I guess I should have known this was going to happen since Mrs.Poole is gone. Since she's been gone, not very many people would show up. About 5 of us in the morning when there should be 10, and at lunch it varies from 1-3. Guess who's there when there's only one person who showed up. If you guessed me, you would have gotten it right. After all, the big day is tomorrow, so there is a lot of pressure. I was thinking of not going to school today, so I could study all day long, and pretty guarantee the chances of my team winning. After all I can hear members on the A team talking about how they are going to be going to Washington D.C.. I honestly think that I should be on the A team. Since some Hispanics are sponsoring the event, at least half the team has to be Hispanic. I find this not fair. I know just as much as the kids on the A team if not more, and I have more potential then they do. I am going to study all night and hope that it was enough to get me tickets to Washington D.C. I'll tell you what happened next Friday. I hope my team wins the regional competition!

Once again, I was in Mrs.Poole's room for Science Bowl for the past week. The alternate on B team is Alexander Noris.  The thing that scares me is that Alex has show up about 2 times of about 150 times. This scares me because Alex is a blurter and an interupter. A blurter is someone who answers without being called on. When someone does this, the other team gets 4 points and they have an opportunity to answer which is 4 points plus they can get the bonus question right which is 10 points. The other team can get 18 points total if we do that. Also, he is an interupter. This means that he buzzes in before the question is fully told. If we buzz in before the moderator is done asking the question, the opposing team will get 4 points, plus the opportunity to get the question right plus they can answer the bonus for another 10 points. This turns into a 18 point play total.

Today, I was not able to attend the event at lunch which is sponsored by the leadership kids because I needed to go to Mrs. Poole’s room for Science Bowl again. Tomorrow, one of the other kid’s parents are chemists and are going to teach us about chemistry because some of the questions are going to be chemistry questions. Both of his parents are chemists. His mom teaches part-time, and the other one teaches full-time. We are going to have Science Bowl for 5 hours! For lunch, we are allowed to bring our own lunch, but we can also bring $5 to school for pizza and drinks. The thing that I am afraid about is that last time I had a sports pizza party, we ate the worst pizza ever, but we only paid $2. This time we are paying $5, so I hope the pizza will be a lot better.
Two weeks from tomorrow is the competition, I am so worried. I really want to go to Washington D.C., but I am on the B team, and in the past 5 years, the B team has only gone once, and that is a great disappointment. There are two kids on the A team who I think do not deserve to be on the A team.

Today at lunch, I went to Mrs.Poole's room for Science Bowl. We are also going to have practice on Sunday from 11:00-2:00. We were originally going to have practice from 1:30-4:30, but Mrs.Poole has to go perform at 2 different flute concerts which start at 3:00. I really want to go to Washington D.C. for the finals. Imagine being the best team in Fresno County. Edison Computech has won the Fresno County competition 5 years in a row and students on the team received an all-expense paid trip. That would be really awesome.

To go to the national competition, we will first have to win our regional competition which will take place on February 16,2013. From today, January 25th, 2013; we have 22 days to practice and learn all we can. We still need to do the energy questions. We haven't done any energy questions, and we re going to practice on Sunday. We are also going to practice on Saturday.

Today I went to Chess Club 15 minutes late. I had to talk to Mr.Aberle because I was confused about when to use verbs. As I write this, a student walked into the classroom holding a paper Mr.Aberle was going to give me. Anyways, we are holding a chess tournament here at Computech, and I signed up. My opponent hasn't shown up for about 2 weeks which is getting annoying since we will not get to play for another week, and if he doesn't want to come; I will not have another opponent until a week after that.

Since my opponent didn't show up, I first one of my friends. Since he was checked and he was almost about to be check-mated, so he grabbed his queen and started to hit the pieces with his queen until the board was empty except for his king and one of his pawns. I asked him what he just did, and he answered by saying that we were playing nuclear chess. He said that nuclear chess is when you can empty the board of everything except for a king and a pawn, everything else is sacrificed.

Today, we did not play our game in the quad. We played on the grass, so no one gets hurt. My friend, Jacob, and I played Santa Sleigh. At first, we were dead even with the other team of two. At the trade-off checkpoint, we switched. Jacob and I weigh about the same, and we are just as strong as each other. On the other hand, there was one big kid, and one small kid. When the big kid was pulling Gavin, the little kid; they were dead even. When Gavin was pulling Ben, the big kid, he was not able to do it fast enough. Over all, I had a great time, I wish anybody who reads this Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you next year, that is if the world doesn't end according to the Mayan calendar.

During lunch, we are going to start having tournaments. Our first tournament started today. First, I had to finish my genetic pages for science. After that, I rushed to room 65, so that I won't get disqualified. Turns out my opponent didn't show, and I was in luck. Now if my opponent doesn't show up, I will get a win for doing nothing. I really don't want to lose on the first round, that would be very embarrassing. Last year's champion, Marcos, was the best. This year there is a 7th grader who was able to beat him 6 times in a row! If I do well, I am going to have to play him. I am going to practice my chess skills over the weekend. Hope I win!
