My favorite book this year would be Crispin: Cross of Lead. This book was very educational in the life of a Medieval child. In most books, the suspense is like a set of stairs, it stops, it starts, it stops, it starts, and etc. Crispin was totally different. It was a like an elevator that never stopped. I found the story very interesting, and I started reading ahead. The story began with the death of Crispin's mother. Crispin was the son of Lord Furnival, but he did not know this. John Aycliffe declared Crispin a wolf's head meaning that he is no longer human, and that he could be killed by anyone. Crispin ran away, and he was sworn to be Bear's apprentice. Bear taught Crispin many crucial skills which helped Crispin survive. Crispin showed Bear his cross.

The cross said that Crispin was son of Lord Furnival, but Crispin did not learn about this until the very end of the book. Bear treated Crispin like his son and Bear did not want to lose his new son. If Bear told Crispin that he was the son of Lord Furnival, then Crispin may have left Bear to go live his new life in luxury.
